Mercier Gets Lucky Versus Pilgrim

Nivel 10 : 600/1,200, 0 ante
Jason Mercier, pictured in an earlier event.
Jason Mercier, pictured in an earlier event.

Jason Mercier put his last 10,000 or so in on a board of {5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts}, and Dwyte Pilgrim swore before making the call.

Pilgrim: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Mercier: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Mercier had binked the turn and got in with great equity, and Pilgrim didn't find any help on the {10-Clubs} river.

Faraz Finished

Nivel 10 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Faraz Jaka made it 2,200 and Anthony Zinno made the call in position. It was heads-up to the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop where Jaka continued, betting 3,400. Zinno called and the action heated up on the {4-Spades} turn.

Jaka bet 6,800, Zinno potted, effectively putting Jaka all in for the 15,000 or so he had behind and he made the call for his tournament life with {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

Zinno held {k-Spades}{j-Spades} and already ahead with two pair, he made the spade flush on the {10-Spades} river to send Jaka out.

Rheem Finds a Great Spot

Nivel 10 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Chino Rheem fired a bet from the cutoff after the big blind checked to him on a {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop, and the big blind raised to 7,100. Rheem tossed out 18,500, and the big blind announced another raise, getting all in. Rheem made the call.

Rheem: {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Rheem was in fabulous shape, and the {q-Spades} and {j-Clubs} secured the pot for him, busting his opponent.

Seidel Stops The Slide

Nivel 10 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Erik Seidel defended his big blind against a Jason Mercier open and they went heads-up to a {7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop. Seidel then check-called a 2,300-chip c-bet from Mercier and the {8-Clubs} turn was revealed.

Seidel check-raised this time, potting it after Mercier fired 6,100 at the pot. Mercier folded.

Galfond Gives Up

Nivel 9 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

On the button, Phil Galfond called a Dani Stern 3,000-chip bet on a {j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. A third player in early position did as well and they went three-handed to the {a-Diamonds} turn. This early position player led out for 8,500 and only Galfond called.

However, after they checked down the {7-Diamonds} river and his opponent showed {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, Galfond's cards hit the muck.

"ElkY" Sent Back to the Woods

Ted Forrest opened for 3,800 and watched as Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Mike Farrell repotted to get it all in behind him. Forrest folded along with everyone else, and it was heads up.

Grospellier: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Farrell: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Farrell flopped an open-ender on the {2-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, and the {j-Spades} gave him even more outs as a ten would counterfeit ElkY's pair. The Frenchman watched as the {a-Clubs} peeled on the river, ending his tournament by giving Farrell a straight.
