Jazayeri Upsets Finger

Nivel 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Martin Finger
Martin Finger

We didn't catch the full action but witnessed a massive pot going on on Table 440. Sean Jazayeri filled us in with the details of the betting sizes and said with a smile on the face, "And then I used my experience to hit a set on the turn." We should remember that one for the next time we play a tournament.

So what exactly happened? There was a raise to 4,200 and Jazayeri called, Martin Finger then three-bet to 14,200 out of the big blind and only Jazayeri called. On the {J-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop, Finger continued for 15,500 and the WPT champion elected to call. After the {9-Hearts} turn, Finger bet 35,000 and Jazayeri moved all in for 89,900.

His opponent from Germany called rather quickly and showed {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} but it was only second best to the {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} of Jazayeri. The river was the {10-Hearts} and that didn't help Finger, abruptly interrupting his decent start.

Unfortunate Flop for Neuville

Nivel 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Pierre Neuville
Pierre Neuville

Pierre Neuville has been eliminated after raising and then calling a three-bet to 11,000 to see the {Q-}{10-}{6-} flop. His {A-}{Q-} hit top pair and top kicker, but unfortunately, the opponent held top set with pocket queens.

Libson Cleaning Up

Nivel 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

First Brad Libson raised from early position and called the all in from Mike Sowers with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} versus {10-}{10-} for 21,000. Libson was able to improve and Sowers headed to the payout desk.

Shortly after we saw Libson raise the button and the big blind defended to see the {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop. The big blind led for 3,000 and Libson made it 12,000 before the big blind moved all in for what looked like 28,000.

After getting a quick count, Libson called as quickly with {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and played against {J-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. The {9-Diamonds} turn immediately shut down all hopes for the short stack and the meaningless {10-Clubs} river completed the board.

Libson did lose one all in showdown against a short stack in a battle of the blinds, though, when he could not get there with {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs} versus {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. But he's still sitting with a healthy stack of 225,000.

Sbai Survives, Doubles Through Givens

Nivel 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Adil Sbai was all in and the player at risk against Will Givens. Sbai had found {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} at the crucial moment and was in good shape against the {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} of Givens.

The flop of {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} gave the players a sweat by providing Givens a straight flush draw, but the turn {4-Hearts} and river {q-Clubs} saw Sbai double up with nut flush to dent Givens' stack.

Not too long after, though, Givens was three-betting an opener and got shown some respect as his opponent laid it down.

Liu Doubles Up

Nivel 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Xuan Liu opened to 3,200 from early position and Stuart Marshak three-bet to 8,500 from the cutoff. The blinds got out of the way and Liu moved all in for 21,500. Marshak considered his decision for more than two minutes and eventually made the call, tabling the {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Liu was way ahead with the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and stayed that way after the board came {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}.

Peters Pawned

Nivel 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
David Peters
David Peters

After an open raise in early position and a call from the cutoff, David Peters moved all in for 20 big blinds with {10-}{10-}. Original raiser Dutch Boyd called with the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} and the board provided no help at all for Peters.

Salles Ships Chips

Nivel 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

It hasn't been the greatest start for Gualter Salles, who headed into Day 2 with the chip lead. He recently lost about one third of his stack with a coin flip {6-}{6-} versus {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} after his opponent made a flush, according to our blogger colleagues from Brazil.

Table 440 as Bustout Magnet

Nivel 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

They have already lost at least four players on Table 440 with Lucas Fridriksson as latest casualty. He was all in preflop with {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} versus {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} and the {A-Clubs} appeared on the river to end his tourney run.

Meanwhile current chip leader Shelby Standley and German pro Martin Finger — also at Table 440 — cannot really complain, as they are both up considerably.
