Calvin Anderson Back At It

Nivel 7 : 400/800, 0 ante
Calvin Anderson was all smiles earlier today
Calvin Anderson was all smiles earlier today

A little more than two hours ago, Calvin Anderson was winning his first WSOP bracelet in Event #30: $1,500 Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low. He's in action here looking to replicate that success.

When asked why he wasn't out celebrating, Calvin said "I don't drink and my girlfriend isn't here so I'd rather just play poker." It's no wonder Anderson does so well with that kind of dedication.

Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu has slowly been building his stack ever since he sat down. With his opponent showing up cards of {10-Spades}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, Negreanu made a bet with {9-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} showing on sixth street. His opponent gathered his cards, turned them over, and slid them to the dealer to give Negreanu the pot and moving his stack to approximately 20,000.

Seat 3: {X-}{X-}/{8-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}/{X-}
Phil Ivey: {X-}{X-}/{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}/{X-}

A short-stacked Phil Ivey was all in before fourth street and John Monnette and two others built a side pot that Monnette would take down when he tabled {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} for aces and sevens. Seat 2 flashed a king for kings and deuces while Seat 3 mucked. Ivey took one last look at his cards and quietly slid them into the center. He stood up and said "alright see you" and headed out of the Amazon Room.

Like Father, Like Son

John Cernuto Jr. and John Cernuto
John Cernuto Jr. and John Cernuto

John Cernuto Sr., better known as "Miami John," is celebrating a very special Father's Day as he is here with his son, John Jr. The resemblance is uncanny and both are taking their shot at this $1,500 Seven-Card Stud event. The elder Cernuto has an impressive WSOP resume that includes 57 cashes and three bracelets.

While his son might not have the same name recognition or experience, he definitely has a great mentor and teacher in his Dad. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there - thank you for all that you do!
