Stud 8 Works for Mizrachi

Nivel 24

Stud 8

Robert Mizrachi selected stud 8.

Idema: {x-}{x-} / {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} / {x-}
Mizrachi: {x-}{x-} / {6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} / {x-}

On the second hand of stud 8, Daniel Idema completed with the {6-Clubs} and Mizrachi made it three bets to go with the {6-Spades}. Idema called to see fourth street.

Mizrachi checked and Idema led out on fourth. Mizrachi stuck around and made a pair of sixes on fifth. He led out and Idema called. Mizrachi made two pair with queens on sixes on sixth and fired another bet. Idema call.

Mizrachi checked seventh and Idema knuckled the table behind. Mizrachi showed {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for queens and nines. Idema mucked his cards and Mizrachi scooped up the pot. He's boosted his stack up to 375,000 while Idema has dropped to 105,000.

Chen Throws a "Monkey Wrench"

Nivel 24

Pot-Limit Five-Card Draw

After an uneventful Pot-Limit Omaha round chosen by Aaron Schaff, Bill Chen selected five-card draw.

"Bill, throwing the monkey wrench out there," Daniel Idema said with a smile.

Chen opened for a raise to 20,000 in the cutoff and was called by Shane Abbott in the small blind. Abbott drew just one, while Chen dumped three.

Abbott came out betting with 22,000, and Chen made the call. Abbott showed him {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for two pair.

Three Uneventful Rounds

Nivel 24

Pot-Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better

After a round of triple draw selected by Bill Chen, the players moved on to Robert Mizrachi's selection: PLO8.

Raise-and-takes dominated the round, and in the only raised pot that saw a flop, Daniel Idema opened to 17,000 on the button and was called by Bill Chen in the big blind. Both players checked the {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, and Chen check-folded to 30,000 on the {2-Diamonds} turn.

Another round of the same game followed as Shane Abbott chose it, but no flops hit the felt.

Abbott Doubles Through Schaff

Nivel 23

Pot-Limit Omaha

Immediately following Frank Kassela's elimination, commanding chip leader Aaron Schaff played a pot-limit Omaha pot against Shane Abbott. The completed board read {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Schaff checked the river. Abbott shipped all in for his last 81,000 and Schaff went deep into the tank.

Roughly 90 seconds passed before Schaff moved forward a call. Abbot tabled {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, playing his five-trey for the straight. Schaff flashed {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for aces and fours before his hand was pulled into the muck. Abbott scored the double and now has about 260,000.

Frank Kassela Eliminated in 6th Place ($18,575)

Frank Kassela is eliminated in 6th place in a multi-way pot

Pot-Limit Omaha

Aaron Schaff selected PLO, and it proved extremely beneficial.

He opened under the gun to 14,000, and Robert Mizrachi (cutoff) and Frank Kassela (small blind) called. In the big blind, Daniel Idema woke up with a pot raise to 70,000. One by one, each player made the call, building a massive pot. The flop rolled out {6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and Kassela thought for about 30 seconds before pushing all in for about 240,000. Idema folded, and Schaff announced all in over the top. Mizrachi tossed his hand into the muck after thinking for a bit.

Schaff: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Kassela: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Kassela was in awful shape with a worse draw and a worse hand. Idema lamented folding the best hand, and the dealer burned and turned a {5-Hearts} to give Kassela some hope in the form of a flush draw. The {2-Spades} river was a brick though, and Kassela became the first player eliminated at the official final table.
