Nick Cassavetes
Nick Cassavetes

Famed Hollywood director Nick Cassavetes' plays in today's Main Event and for now, things are going really well.

We just watched Cassavetes limp in from the small blind and the big blind checked. The flop brought out {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{A-Hearts} and Cassavetes tossed in 200. The big blind raised to 500 and the action was back on the man who directed "The Notebook" and "Entourage", among others.

"You raise?" Cassavetes said while putting on an Italian accent.

"You raise?" he asked again before tossing in a three-bet to 1,600.

The big blind called and on the {5-Diamonds} turn, both players checked. On the {J-Spades} river, Cassavetes tossed out 2,250 and his opponent quickly folded.

Pieter de Korver
Pieter de Korver

Garrett Beckman opened to 450 under-the-gun only to have 2009 EPT Grand Final Champion, Pieter de Korver, three-bet next to act to 1,050. The button called, as did Beckman before the dealer spread a {6-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop.

De Korver continued for 1,675 and only Beckman called as the {A-Diamonds} landed on the turn and de Korver bet out 2,300. Beckman quickly mucked and slipped below starting stack as de Korver climbed to over 20,000 in chips.

Geshkenbein Bust

Nivel 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Vladimir Geshkenbein was short when he got to his new table, arriving with just under 13,000. He lost a couple of pots and then got in all in preflop with {a-}{k-}. A good hand but not when you run it into {a-}{a-} as Geshkenbein did and his Main Event was at an end.

Five players limped in for 200 with the dealer spreading a {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} flop. The blinds checked, and the first limper tossed in 1,000 to find one fold before Kevin O'Donnell bumped it up to 1,700.

Both blinds released and the first limper made it 5,000 to go and O'Donnell quickly called.

The turn landed the {6-Hearts} and O'Donnell would now be faced with a 6,000-chip bet.

"God damn son of a b****!" spluttered O'Donnell before he folded and showed his {A-Clubs}{2-Spades} face-up while slipping to just over 38,000 in chips.

Dark Check to Kurganov

Nivel 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Igor Kurganov opened for 500 and the big blind called, saying, "I check in the dark to you.”

The flop came {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and with the action on Kurganov he bet 550 and got called. The turn card was the {5-Hearts} and the big blind checked again. Kurganov bet 1,000 and got called again. The river was the {q-Hearts} and both players checked.

“Two pair,” the big blind said.
“Me too,” replied Kurganov, turning over {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and causing the big blind to muck his lesser hand.
