Not a Great Start for Negreanu

Nivel 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Daniel Negreanu opened for 1,175 only to have fellow Canadian Kyle Johnson three-bet to 3,400. Action folded back to Negreanu who called, and the flop came down {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Negreanu checked, as did Johnson, and the dealer burned and turned the {7-Diamonds}.

Negreanu took the opportunity to bet 5,500, but he failed to shake Johnson. When the {10-Spades} completed the board on the river, Negreanu bet 11,500 and Johnson wasted little time in making the call.

"Nut-low," Negreanu joked and showed the {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a missed flush.

"Could have been a big pot," Johnson said as he rolled over the {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for the win.

It Pays To Be On Time

Nivel 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

We arrived at the table to see a pot being pushed to Nick Wealthall, a host for PokerStars TV from the United Kingdom. In front of him sat his cards {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and the board read {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. Wealthall had got it all in preflop against an opponent holding {a-}{k-}. It was the first hand of the day and he told us that he’s almost missed it. He is currently a very relieved man and has twice the amount of chips with which he started.

Anatoly Filatov may feel differently, however, as his all-in with {j-}{j-} lost out to Rhys Jones' {a-}{q-} when a queen hit the river.

Haugen Taking Command Early

Nivel 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Matt Haugen asserted himself immediately here on Day 2c, putting in a preflop reraise to 20,000 before even stacking his chips, the last in what appeared to be a raising war between Haugen in the big blind and an opponent in the cutoff. The cutoff called, and Haugen fired 17,000 more on the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop. His opponent quickly folded, ceding the pot to Haugen.

Early Pavilion Exits

Nivel 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Among the early Day 2c exits from the Pavilion is 2013 November Niner JC Tran, whose pocket tens fell to pocket eights. Tablemate Tommy Vedes informed us that it was a one outer.
