What if Ivey Shoves?

Nivel 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey and Kearns Julien checked to Cong Pham on a board of {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, and Pham tossed out a bet of 38,500. Ivey quickly called, and Julien tanked for several minutes before calling the clock on himself. He eventually slid his hand into the muck, and the dealer burned one last card before delivering the {4-Clubs} on the river.

Ivey checked, Pham checked behind, and Ivey said he missed. Pham showed {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of nines, and was awarded the pot.

"I didn't want another diamond," Pham told Ivey, who nodded.

"What do you do if I shove in on the turn?" Ivey asked Pham, who laughed.

"I don't know."

Pierce All In, Doubles Up

Nivel 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Paul Pierce
Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce had lost a little since his last double-up an hour or so ago before he moved all in again on a flop of {7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. His opponent made the call and the cards were turned over.

Pierce with {a-Spades}{8-Spades} was open-ended and was looking to hit against the {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} of his opponent’s top pair.

The turn {j-Clubs} was a card Pierce needed, filling his straight, and a {5-Hearts} river card completed the board to ensure his survival.

Pierce was relieved but not satisfied. “I need three more double-ups,” he said.

Sindelar's River Raise Wins

Nivel 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Facing a small bet of 18,500 into a pot of over 80,000 on a board of {9-Hearts}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, Dan Sindelar raised to 55,500. His opponent tanked for a few minutes, asking the dealer to pull in the initial bet, but ultimately folded.

Isaac Baron Is Running "Absurd"

Nivel 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Isaac Baron
Isaac Baron

It was folded to a short-stacked player in the hijack who moved all in for 20,900. Andrew Lichtenberger was one seat to his left and made the call. Isaac Baron was another spot over and he raised it to 48,900. The blinds folded and it was back on Lichtenberger who tanked for two minutes before quietly announcing he was all in.

Baron didn't snap-call, but he did ask the dealer for a count. After pulling in 20,900 apiece for the main pot, and 28,000 apiece additional for the side pot, it was determined that Lichtenberger had moved all in for an additional 115,900. Now it was Baron's turn to tank. He started muttering to himself and took a quick peek back at his cards, shaking his head as he leaned slightly back in his chair.

"115,900 more right?" he asked.

"That's correct," answered the dealer.

Baron flung his hand in frustration towards the center of the table several times and then announced a call. The hands were turned over:

Short-Stacked Player: {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Lichtenberger: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Baron: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

Lichtenberger was in great shape to score a huge double-up with his queens. The flop changed nothing as it came {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}. But the turn was a dagger for Lichtenberger's tournament life... the {A-Hearts}. The river bricked out — the {9-Hearts} — and just like that Lichtenberger and the short-stacked player were both eliminated at the hands of the current tournament chip leader. Baron moved up to 875,000, and after the hand all he could say was "absurd."

Mayrinck Making Money

Nivel 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Chatterbox Maria Mayrinck has had a great first level of the day. After starting at just over 180,000, she has nearly doubled that in two hours. Mayrinck was caught bluffing in an early hand, but not long after that her image paid off when she hit a set and managed to get paid in a big pot.

There is no such thing as getting it quietly with Mayrinck, but she is getting it nonetheless.
