The Truth Denied

Nivel 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Paul Pierce
Paul Pierce

From the hijack, Michael Binger opened to 9,000 and Paul Pierce made the call in the cutoff before Christopher Smith three-bet the button to 17,000. Binger folded, but Pierce made the call as the dealer spread a {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop.

Smith continued for 15,000 and Pierce check-called as the {6-Spades} rolled off on the turn and Pierce tapped the table for a second time. Smith cut out a bet of 35,000, and after a few moments deliberating, Pierce tossed in calling chips.

The dealer dropped the {4-Spades} on the river and Pierce paused, then announced he was all in. Smith asked for a count, and Pierce pushed each of his stacks towards the dealer where it was revealed that the bet was for 129,000 total.

As Smith dove into the tank, Pierce waved off his masseuse, stood up and rubbed his hands together before putting them behind his back as he towered high over Smith waiting for his opponent to come up with a decision. A further few minutes went by with Smith cutting out the necessary calling chips before eventually sliding them in and tabling {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} for top two pair.

Pierce lent down over the table, retrieved his hand, tapped the table with it and then revealed his {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a rivered two pair while uttering, "Damn!"

As Pierce shook hands with Smith, the rail chimed in with a few claps before Pierce added, "good run!"

Although Pierce may not have reached the money in this year's Main Event, his $15,333,334 salary from his previous season with the Brooklyn Nets means that for every two-and-a-half minutes of game time last season he made the equivalent of the $18,406 min-cash.

A Big Cooler

Nivel 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The board read {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts} and a player bet 120,000 into an already big pot. Thomas 'Doc' Applegate moved all in for just 27,000 more chips.

The player who had made the larger bet on the river freaked out, jumped up from his chair and almost fell to the ground out of agony.

"No, no, no," the player said as he put in the call for just a little bit more.

Applegate showed {Q-}{Q-} for a full house and his opponent flashed {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a lower full house. The player who lost the hand left the tournament room to cool down, but he's still left with about 150,000 chips.

Abe Mosseri Doubles Through Eric Hicks

Nivel 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Abe Mosseri
Abe Mosseri

We didn't catch the pre-flop action but according to Abe Mosseri all the chips went in pre-flop and he was all in and at risk against the big stack of Eric Hicks. Mosseri held {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Hicks held {A-}{3-}. The board ran out {K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Mosseri's set of sevens was more than enough to win him the pot and keep him alive.

Hughes Leaves Huang Short

Nivel 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We didn't see the action, but Mark Hughes and Bryan Huang got it all in preflop at Table 4.

Hughes: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Huang: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Hughes was at risk, but his lead remained comfortable as he had Huang drawing dead after fourth street.

Nivel 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

With about 60,000 in the middle and a board of {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, Vladimir Shchemelev tossed out a bet of 20,000 and Ismael Bojang was forced to fold.

Pierce Slams All In On Kaczka

Nivel 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Paul Pierce

From under the gun, Harry Kaczka raised to 9,000 with 113,000 behind. Action then folded to NBA star Paul Pierce in the small blind, and he reraised all in for a little under 200,000, having Kaczka covered. After a bit of tanking — and painful tanking at that — Kaczka folded.

"Seven-deuce!" yelled out Pierce, hinting that he shoved all in with seven-deuce — the worst starting hand in hold'em. "All in with seven-deuce off suit!"

Little by Little

Nivel 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Jonathan Little reported that he ran his stack up to 110,000 by stealing and then dwindled to 70,000 by not stealing. Little was then all in with {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} versus {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and held after a {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop to finish on 134,000 at the break.

Little opened to 8,000 just after the break and got one caller in the cut-off. They saw a flop of {6-Spades}{a-Spades}{4-Spades} with neither player wagering chips so the dealer put out the turn card {7-Hearts}. This time Little check-called a bet of 13,000, whereupon his opponent remarked, “You can write more hands for your book.”

The river card was the {10-Spades}. No chips went forward and Little turned over {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}for the nut flush. Perhaps that one will make his next book after all.
