With the flop showing 7♣5♦5♠, Jean-Francois Christophe bet 1,000 from the button and was called by Cyril Monbrun under the gun and Oscar Penella Olive in middle position.
The turn came the 5♥. After Monbrun checked, Olive bet 3,500 which prompted two quick folds from his opponents.
Pedro Gines opened to 300 from under the gun before Gaetano Fiore three-bet to 1,200 from the button. The blinds got out of the way and then Gines reraised to 3,300. Fiore thought for a few moments before calling.
Gines continued for 2,100 on the A♠K♣J♣ flop and was called. Gines then slowed down with a check on the 10♠ turn. Fiore fired out 4,500, sending Gines into the tank. The Spaniard took his time before reaching for his chips, he then steadied himself and continued to mull over his options. Gines finally settled on a raise, making it 13,000, and he snap-called for the 12,600 more he had behind after Fiore three-bet jammed as the slightly bigger stack.
Pedro Gines: Q♣Q♥
Gaetano Fiore: A♥10♣
Gines had Broadway, while Fiore's two pair needed to improve to a full house. The K♠ paired the board, but not in the way Fiore required and he was reduced to fumes.
A few hands later, Fiore was all-in and at risk to Matthias Huebl.
Gaetano Fiore: K♦8♦
Matthias Huebl: A♦Q♦
Huebl paired up on the A♥10♦2♠ flop and improved to a boat after the Q♠ turn and Q♣ river to secure the first elimination of the day.
Juan Gozalo opened to 300 from the hijack and called when Matteo Tamisier three-bet to 1,500 from the cutoff.
Gozalo check-called bets of 1,100 and 2,600 on the flop and turn for the final board to read 10♣4♦2♣4♠A♥. Gozalo checked for a third time, prompting Tamisier to fire a third barrel of 12,000. After spending some time in the tank, Gozalo returned his cards to the dealer.
Miika Töyräs raised to 300 from middle position. Olivier Dinand called from the button before Frederic Pajot three-bet to 1,200 out of the big blind. Only Töyräs called.
Töyräs called Dinand's bet of 1,200 on the Q♣7♦10♥ flop.
The 6♠ on the turn saw Töyräs call a bet of 1,600 from Dinand.
Dinand bet 5,000 when the J♣ came on the river and again Töyräs called. Dinand turned over A♠K♦ for the nut straight and took down the pot.
Donato De Bonis raised to 300 from early position with Vicenc Gonzalez and Patrick Bechard called out of the blinds.
The action was checked to De Bonis on the Q♠2♥4♠ flop and he bet 500. Gonzalez called, but Bechard folded.
On the J♠ turn, Gonzalez check-called a bet of 1,500 from De Bonis.
Gonzalez checked when the 8♣ hit the river. De Bonis bet 4,000 and was met with a check-raise to 14,500 by Gonzalez. De Bonis thought it over before folding his hand and forfeiting the pot to Gonzalez.
Marco Stuertz opened to 300 from under the gun and was called by Kristian Dahl from the next seat over. David Vie and Sergei Atroshchanka called from the cutoff and button.
The A♣6♠4♠ flop checked through to the K♥ turn. Stuertz led out for 900 and took down the pot.
