The 20th-anniversary celebration of the PokerStars European Poker Tour promised to bring massive fields to Barcelona, and the opening PokerStars Estrellas Poker Tour (ESPT) Main Event lived up to the billing.

A total of 7,138 entries packed the Casino Barcelona over the course of eight starting flights, just falling short of last year’s record total but still the second-biggest field in PokerStars live event history. Just 1,066 return for Day 2 at 11 a.m. local time today, with all remaining players in the money and guaranteed a portion of the €6,852,480 prize pool.

Andrew Chen is the only player who crossed the million-chip milestone on the opening day, taking 1,077,000 in Day 2. PokerStars Team Pro Alejandro Lococo is right behind him with 896,000 and in second place. Other top stacks include EPT Paris finalist Ami Barer (494,000), Marle Spragg (488,000), Noah Boeken (470,000), Ren Lin (460,000), and Jesse Lonis (434,000).

Kirilov Shoves on Lonis

Nivel 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Jesse Lonis opened to 16,000 on the button and was called by Krasimir Kirilov in the small blind for a heads-up pot.

Kirilov check-called a 12,000 bet from Lonis on the QJ10 flop and checked to Lonis again after the 9 turn brought a four-liner on board.

Lonis put 15,000 into the middle and Kirilov immediately shoved for approximately 60,000 total. Lonis quickly folded and Kirilov collected the pot.

Sandrine Boucry was all in for around 30,000 from under the gun as Mathijs Mulder and Mathias Siljander went to the turn on a board of 2QK5 with around 40,000 in the side pot.

Siljander then bet 100,000 from early position, enough to put Mulder all in, and Mulder tanked for several minutes. The clock was eventually called and Mulder folded. Siljander then showed AA, while Boucry had A5 and was sent to the rail once the 4 fell on the river.

Martin Shoves Into Aces, Doubles Anyway

Nivel 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Action folded to David Martin in the small blind who moved all in for 86,000. Brian Battistone took a peek at his cards in the big blind and snap-called to put Martin at risk.

David Martin: QJ All in
Brian Battistone: AA

Martin had run into aces and was at risk of elimination as the J57 flop gave him some hope with a pair. The Q fell on the turn and Martin improved to two pair to take the lead, then held up on the 2 river to earn the fortunate double up.

"Lucky game," tablemate Martins Mellens said.

Stann up Early

Nivel 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Dave Stann
Dave Stann

Dave Stann and Alon Journo were heads-up on a flop of J5J. Stann was in the big blind and check-called an 11,000 bet from Journo, who was on the button.

The K fell on the turn and Stann check-called a 12,000 bet from Journo.

Both players checked after the 4 completed the board and Stann turned over KQ for king-up.

Journo rapped the table and sent his hand into the muck. Stann, who started the day with just over 30,000, has chipped up nicely and currently sits with approximately 140,000.
