There were 20,000 chips already in the pot on a board of 3♥10♦10♣6♣A♦ when Sondre Bjornebekk bet 5,000 into Peter Da. After using some time to think it over, Da elected to call.
Bjornebekk showed Q♣Q♦ for a pair of queens, and Da mucked his hand.
Artus Gimenez opened to 1,000 from middle position and Ziv Dascalu made it 3,000 in the cutoff. Once the action got back to Gimenez, he four-bet shoved for almost 18,000, and Dascalu quickly called.
Artus Gimenez: A♥K♣
Ziv Dascalu: A♠Q♥
Dascalu's outs swapped after the J♥5♣10♦ flop and then he improved to an open-ended straight draw on the 9♥ turn. No help arrived on the J♠ river though, which meant Gimenez doubled up.
There were already well over 20,000 chips in the pot when Nedyo Georgiev and Sylvain Naets had seen a flop of J♣6♥10♣. With Georgiev first to act, he shoved which put Naets to the test for his stack of 20,200. After some thought, Naets elected to call.
Sylvain Naets: A♣A♠
Nedyo Georgiev: A♥K♣
Naets was a heavy favorite to double up and did just that as no help arrived for Georgiev on the 2♥6♠ runout.
It's official. After its return in 2023 following a 12-year hiatus, PokerStars has confirmed that The Big Game on Tour is back again this year, with more episodes to be filmed at the NAPT Las Vegas festival.
Ten episodes of the show were filmed last year, with the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Maria Ho, Lex Veldhuis and Sam Grafton all taking part. The show features a lucky Loose Cannon who receives $50,000 and has to survive 150 hands playing $50/$100 with a table of poker pros, ambassadors, and celebrities.
PokerNews spoke with Big Game on Tour judge and commentator James Hartigan ahead of the show's return, and he says he's thrilled the show is back.
With two players seeing a board of Q♦3♥2♦ and 3,500 in the middle, Alisa Sibgatova bet 1,500 from middle position and Julien Mariani took some time before calling from the button.
Both players checked the 10♠ turn leading to the 4♥ river. Sibgatova checked, and after a couple minutes of contemplation Mariani bet 7,100. Sibgatova made the call.
Mariani had top pair with Q♠8♠ which was enough to take the pot.
On a flop of Q♣6♠8♣, Mohamed Mamouni led out for 1,500 from the big blind and Kristian Dahl raised to 3,500 from early position. Mamouni then shoved for 17,000, which Dahl snap-called.
Mohamed Mamouni: 10♣9♦
Kristian Dahl: 6♦6♣
Dalh was ahead with bottom set, but Mamouni had a straight draw. The 7♦ on the turn gave Mamouni the straight and put him ahead, and when the 3♣ came on the river, Mamouni had doubled up to over the starting stack.
There were roughly 13,000 chips in the pot on a full board of 3♠Q♦5♥J♣J♦ when Yiannis Liperis shoved. Bradley Harwood had close to 16,000 remaining in his stack and was contemplating for quite some time before he decided to put his tournament life on the line.
Liperis flipped over A♣A♠ for a pair of aces, and Harwood flashed K♦Q♠ for a pair of queens then exited the Pau Cassals tournament room.
