Day 1 of the $10,200 Mystery Bounty is in the books here at 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Cyprus, with Ren Lin of China rising to the top of the standings after ten 30-minute levels of play.

In a star-studded field, Lin steadily accumulated chips throughout the day and finished with 578,000, the only player to bag over 100 big blinds. He leads 26 players to qualify from 62 entrants, with late registration still open until the start of Day 2.

Lin currently sits fifth in the Global Poker Index tournament rankings, and will be looking to further cement his reputation as one of the finest tournament players in the world with a deep run in this event.

Spanish PokerStars Ambassador Elias Gutierrez (428,000) sits in second after claiming a double knockout towards the end of the day, while Vladimir Korzinin (425,000) of Estonia completes the podium places.

Mathieu Di Meglio: A3 All in
Aren Bezhanyan: AJ All in
Elias Gutierrez: 1010

Gutierrez's pocket tens were ahead, and he had a near lock on the hand after the 1084 flop gave him top set.

Li Spikes Turn to Double via Lin

Nivel 9 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Ren Lin
Ren Lin

Zhendong Li was all in for 57,000 and at risk versus Ren Lin.

Zhendong Li: 88 All in
Ren Lin: QQ

Li was in trouble versus Lin's overpair queens, and Lin improved to top set on the Q42 flop. However Li still had outs to the flush draw, and the A rolled off on the turn to put him in front.

Li just had to avoid the board pairing to take the pot, or a fourth queen, and the K river was a brick, sending him the double-up.

Lin, always in good form at the table, smiled and said "How can I lose with Lady Gaga?!"

Artur Martirosian
Artur Martirosian

Cards were on their backs and stacks were in the middle, with Mehdi Chaoui all in for 48,000 and at risk after Adrian Mateos rejammed, which did not deter Artur Martirosian from also getting his 100,000 stack into the middle.

Mehdi Chaoui: AJ All in
Artur Martirosian: 99 All in
Adrian Mateos: AK

Martirosian was in good shape with a pair of nines, with his opponent's holding some of each others' outs, and he had a lock on the hand after the flop came 954, giving him top set of nines, with the Q6 turn and river completing the runout.

Jon Vallinas

Jon Vallinas opened to 5,500 from early position, and was faced with a three-bet to 15,500 by Jiaming Zhao in the big blind, with Vallinas making the call after some thought.

On the AK7 flop, Zhao check-called versus a bet of 10,000 from Vallinas. The 3 turn was checked through.

The J river completed the runout, and Zhao led out with a bet sufficient to cover Vallinas remaining 45,000 stack.

Vallinas made the quick call with AQ for a pair of aces, but was shown the bad news when Zhao tabled KK for the flopped set of kings.

Vladimir Korzinin
Vladimir Korzinin

Abdullah Alajmi opened to 7,500 under the gun, and action folded to Vladimir Korzinin in the big blind, who reached for chips and produced a three-bet to 24,000.

Alajmi quickly produced the four-bet jam to 46,000 and, after some thought, Korzinin made the call with the covering stack, saying "I want to see."

Abdullah Alajmi: 96 All in
Vladimir Korzinin: JJ

Korzinin chuckled when he saw his opponent's cards, exclaiming "That's my age!" Alajmi's nine-high needed some help from the board versus Korzinin's pocket jacks, but he was drawing dead by the turn on the A103Q2 runout.
