Día 1ab completado
The first two starting flights of the PokerStars Open (PSO) Campione €1,100 Main Event provided a busy day at Casino di Campione. The start of Day 1a was delayed by 30 minutes as dozens of people were still in line at registration, eager to jump in from the very start. Due to the huge interest, an extra level was added to the starting days as well, resulting in a later-night finish at 3 a.m. local time.
At the end of the day, Day 1a reached a tally of 644 entries, covering well over half of the €1,000,000 guarantee on its own. Evening flight Day 1b added another 163 entries, bringing the total to 807 with two more flights remaining.
Topping 184 surviving players of Day 1a when play concluded after 11 levels of play was Darius Neagoe. Neagoe started to appear among the leaders halfway through the day but really found his stride in the late hours and ended up with a stack of 417,000 on the hunt for his first PokerStars trophy. Neagoe's stack equals nearly 14 starting stacks and a massive 348 big blinds at the start of Day 2.
Following Neagoe in close proximity is Terrance Reid. Reid told PokerNews that he made a last-minute decision to book a transatlantic flight and play PSO Campione. His impulse rewarded him with a stack of 413,500 as he is looking for his first cash on European soil. Meanwhile, Polish player Sebastian Kotowicz sits in third with 398,600, while regular Pascal Pflock also found his way in the top ten with a stack of 218,100.

Day 1c will commence at 1 p.m. with 60-minute levels, while Day 1d kicks off at 8 p.m. and has levels of 20 minutes. Both days will play 11 levels, at the end of which the survivors will bag up for Day 2, which will take place Friday, March 14. Both days have the option for unlimited reentries, while the late registration will close after the first level of Day 2.
Check back in with PokerNews tomorrow for the final two starting flights as the turnout for PSO Campione continues to surpass all expectations.

The players are bagging up as Day 1a has reached its conclusion.
Stay tuned for full chip counts for Both Day 1a and Day 1b, as well as a recap of the first two opening flights.
Karim Radani checked in early position on a turn of 8♦Q♥4♣3♣. Button Andreas Blaskov then bet 18,000 into a pot of 23,500, which Radani called.
The river fell the 6♠ and saw Blaskov move all in after another check by Radani. Radani needed only a few seconds before calling off his stack of 40,700.
Blaskov could only show jack-high with J♦9♦, while Radani was awarded the six-figure pot with his A♥Q♦ for top pair.

Each table will play three more hands before Day 1a wraps up.
Adrian Andritz squeezed in an all-in three-bet to 15,800 from the small blind and found one caller in Ivan Banic in middle position.
Adrian Andritz: J♦9♦
Ivan Banic: K♣Q♣
Banic made the nut flush on the A♣9♣Q♦5♣A♠ board to take down the pot in style and eliminate Andritz as Day 1a starts to wind down.

Joao Ferreira in the small blind and Giacomo Beneforti in early position had created a pot of 45,000 when they saw a flop of 10♦2♣4♠. Ferreira made a bet of 11,500, which Beneforti called.
The 3♥ turn and 6♣ river were then checked by both players. Ferreira tabled A♦K♣ for ace-high, leaving Beneforti to take the pot with his Q♠Q♣.

Andrea Colombo had shoved in his stack of 18,000 preflop on the button, with small blind Ramon Barmettler and Ettore Cuzzone in middle position putting in calls.
Barmettler then bet 13,200 on the J♣3♠K♠ flop, which Cuzzone raised to 35,000. Barmettler three-bet jammed in response, and Cuzzone snap-called for his stack of 94,000.
Andrea Colombo: K♥7♥
Ettore Cuzzone: J♦3♦
Ramon Barmettler: K♦Q♦
Cuzzone had flopped two pair to take a big lead over the other two players. The 3♥ turn made him a full house to lock up the pot, rendering the 6♦ river meaningless.
Colombo said his goodbyes just before the day's end, while Barmettler was left with a stack of 20 big blinds, and Cuzzone was awarded the humongous pot.
