A total of 118 players came out to play the first day of The RunGood Resort $1,000 Main Event at Jack Casino in Cleveland, Ohio. After almost 11 hours of play, the field was finally cut down to 14 players that bagged up to continue the journey onward to Day 2.

Leading the way is WSOP bracelet winner Katie Kopp who ended their day with 489,000 after busting out Jon ‘Boston’ Lewis on the stone bubble with pocket kings versus pocket jacks. She was off to a hot start early after max-late-rigging and immediately doubled up when she cracked aces with pockets tens.

Hot on her heels is David Berman who has half a million in live tournament earnings and is looking to pad his stats with another big score in this Main Event.

On a flop of 375, Jon Lewis got it all in against Katie Kopp, who covered.

Jon Lewis: JJAll in
Katie Kopp: KK

Lewis would need a jack to win this pot, but the runout of A2 could not do it and he was eliminated on the stone bubble while Kopp scooped the sizeable pot.

Grimes Holds with Sixes

Nivel 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

A short-stacked player moved all in preflop and was called by Frank Grimes to put him at risk.

Player: KQAll in
Frank Grimes: 66

The at-risk player would need to improve to stay alive in this flip, but the runout of 4104107 could not do it and he was sent out two spots from the money.

Lewis Gets It in With the Nuts; Shah Exits

Nivel 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

On a heads-up turn board that read 9Q3J, Jon Lewis got it all in against Samip Shah, who covered.

Jon Lewis: K10All in
Samip Shah: J9

Lewis was well in the lead with his nut straight, but still needed to fade the four full house-outs of Shah. Lucky for him, the river A only improved him to Broadway and he was shipped the pot for a big double.

Left with less than a big blind, Shah exited shortly after.
