Blaz Zerjav opened the action from under the gun with a raise to 240,000. He was called by Fahredin Mustafov in the hijack, and the big blind Rokas Asipauskas.
After the flop came 6♥6♠7♦ Asipauskas decided to lead out for a bet of 200,000. Zerjav folded, and Mustafov made the call.
The turn brought the 5♠ and Asipauskas continued to bet, this time for 450,000. Mustafov gave it a quick thought before mucking his hand to give the pot to Asipauskas.
Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 21st episode, Connor speaks with Survivor legend Boston Rob, aka Rob Mariano, about growing up near Fenway Park, learning poker at the age of 6, studying psychology at Boston University, applying for Survivor and winning Season 22, his recent appearance on Deal or No Deal Island and filming an upcoming season of The Traitors.
Boston Rob also revealed a story about Costa Rican authorities raiding a mansion known to host high-stakes poker games during a 2006 filming that included Daniel Negreanu, Josh Arieh, David Williams, Michael Mizrachi and actress Cheryl Hines.
"(Gambling mogul) Calvin (Ayre) had a big party at the house, and they came in guns drawn," he said. "And we were fine, but we all had to stay at the party until they checked our passports and everything. I think it was a little bit of a shakedown. But we had a good weekend."
Blaz Zerjav raised to 200,000 under the gun and action folded to Gleb Tremzin, who defended the big blind to see a flop of 7♣Q♣5♥.
Tremzin checked and Zerjav continued for 100,000. The former then woke up with a check-raise to 275,000 and the latter thought for a bit before dropping in a call.
After the dealer burned and turned the 5♠, Tremzin moved all in for his last 380,000 or so and Zerjav snap-called.
Gleb Tremzin: Q♥10♦
Blaz Zerjav: 5♦5♣
Tremzin had flopped top pair but discovered the bad news that he was drawing dead to Zerjav's quads. The meaningless 2♥ was run out on the river and Tremzin bowed out in seventh place.
Action folded to Blaz Zerjav who raised to 200,000 from the hijack. It then folded to Bruno Volkmann on the button, who three-bet all in for 495,000. Once the blinds folded, Zerjav made the call to put Volkmann at risk.
Bruno Volkmann: K♦10♦
Blaz Zerjav: Q♥8♥
It was a fair fight, with Volkmann ahead with his king high. When the board ran out 9♠10♠K♣9♦3♥ Volkmann secured the double up with his two pair, kings and tens.
With the big blind about to hit him in the next hand, the short-stacked Archibald Seaton raised to 200,000 under the gun and action folded around to Lei Yu, who three-bet to 500,000 from the small blind. Seaton announced all in for roughly 50,000 more and Yu quickly called.
Archibald Seaton: K♦2♠
Lei Yu: A♣9♠
Seaton was behind and failed to catch up as the board ran out a lackluster 7♣4♦5♣4♥5♥ to send him out the door in eighth place.
Action folded to Blaz Zerjav on the button, and he raised to 200,000. After the small blind folded, the big blind Bruno Volkmann made the call.
The flop came 6♣Q♥2♦ and Volkamann checked to Zerjav who bet out 125,000. Volkmann decided to raise that bet to 275,000, which Zerjav called.
After the K♦ on the turn, both players checked to the 8♦ on the river. Volkmann checked to Zerjav again, who this time bet enough to put Volkman all in for his stack of 800,000. After using a time extension, Volkmann mucked his hand to give the pot to Zerjev.
