Huge Double Up for Albadawi Through Geilich

Nivel 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

A huge hand just went down that ended up going several minutes into the break. At the completion of the hand it was the winner, Monty Albadawi, who explained to us what happened.

A player raised to 1,400 after which Ludovic Geilich three-bet from his immediate left to 4,600. Monty Albadawi called from the big blind and the initial raiser folded.

The flop brought out {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Albadawi checked to Geilich who bet 4,500 and Albadawi called.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and both players checked. On the river the {7-Hearts} completed the board and Albadawi lead out for 9,800. Geilich raised it up to 38,900 and Albadawi responded by moving all in for 78,675.

Geilich went into the tank for well over seven minutes, while he constantly talked to himself.

"I didn't expect you to do that, you should have a big hand here but I have something too," Geilich said.

Another couple of minutes went by and Geilich added, "I've never been in the tank for this long."

In the end Albadawi called the clock on his opponent, and Geilich called in the dying seconds.

Albadawi showed {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a full house and that was good against Geilich's {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Albadawi is now the chip leader while Geilich was left with very little chips.

Dominik Nitsche Eliminated

Nivel 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Dominik Nitsche shoved from the hijack for 11,100. Two positions down the player on the button made the call, both small blind Jochum Weenink and big blind Yevgeniy Timoshenko folded.

The button sighed when he saw Nitsche's hand, mistaking the Germans {A-Spades}{4-Clubs} for pocket aces. He himself showed {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} and soon enough found out his kings were good: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

Fifteen-Minute break

Nivel 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

The last break of the day has commenced. The 25 chips are being raced off, the 100 denominations chips will be the lowest in play when the tournament resumes again with its last level of the day (400/800, 100 ante).

Joep van den Bijgaart Eliminated

Nivel 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Joep van den Bijgaart

Joep van den Bijgaart was seen taking his seat on one of the cash game tables in the tournament area. Upon asking what had happened, Van den Bijgaart told us about two hands that costed him his tournament life.

First he flopped a full house with {6-}{6-} on {9-}{9-}{6-}, only to get check-raised by Wim Emo. Van den Bijgaart called and saw the board run out {7-}, {9-}. His flopped full house was counterfeited, Emo played {J-}{J-} and started stacking the chips.

In Van den Bijgaart's last hand, he called from the big blind with {A-Spades}{10-} after a raise and a call. All three of them checked on {Q-}{J-}{9-} rainbow. The {4-Spades} on the turn made Van den Bijgaart bet out 3,200. One of his opponents made it 10,000 and Van den Bijgaart called with his open-ended and the nut flush blocker, with the plan of bluffing spades and of course the eights and kings as outs. The {J-Spades} hit the river and Van den Bijgaart shoved. Unfortunately for Van den Bijgaart, his opponent had {9-}{9-} and called, and Van den Bijgaart's bluff failed.

Van den Bijgaart already has a ticket for tomorrows Day 1b, but he wasn't sure yet he would be playing, as the prospect of playing 50/100 all over again didn't make him feel too warm inside.

Hester Loses to Flopped Straight

Nivel 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Jochum Weenink raised it up to 1,500 and Jacco Hester in the hijack made the call. Big blind Samantha Abernathy called as well and checked on {10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Weenink made a continuation bet of 3,200 and Hester called. Abernathy check-raised to 12,500 and Weenink quickly released. Hester made the call. Both players checked the {6-Diamonds} on the turn and {5-Clubs} on the river. Abernathy showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Hester frowned and mucked.

Boeken Strikes Again

Nivel 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Noah Boeken won a big hand with ace-jack to get up to over the 125,000 mark, and just grabbed some more chips from the same player.

On a flop of {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, we saw the big blind check to Boeken. Boeken bet 2,200 and Vincent Gabel on the button folded. The big blind made the call.

The {9-Clubs} hit the turn and this time Boeken saw his opponent check-call a bet of 5,400.

With the {10-Spades} completing the board, the big blind checked again. Boeken bet 12,600 and his opponent open mucked the counterfeited {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Boeken showed the {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} and collected the chips.
