Ivey Quickly Doubles

Nivel 7 : 200/400, 0 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

After being seated for only a few hands, Phil Ivey has already found a double up.

A player from late position opened for 900 and Ivey reraised pot from the button and action folded back to his opponent who potted again to put Ivey's last few chips in. Ivey called and rolled over {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, having the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} of his opponent dominated.

The board ran out {q-}{2-}{7-}{4-}{4-}.

Nivel 7 : 200/400, 0 ante

Phil Ivey busted from Event #13: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship and immediately bought into this Pot-Limit Hold'em tournament.

Ivey is reported to have a large sum of money at stake from bracelet bets so is trying to maximise his chances of winning one by playing as many events as he possibly can.

Pegasus Flies Up the Chip Counts

Nivel 7 : 200/400, 0 ante

In the Brasilia Room, "Pegasus" is the nickname of circuit grinder, Mark Smith. Pegasus has sprung up the chip counts - improving his 2,000 chips that we had him at the last count - to a much more substantial 10,300.

Defending Main Event Champ Stacking Chips

Ryan Riess

We caught up with Ryan Riess as he was stacking chips that he had just won. He has steadily chipped up since being moved to the blue section and his stack is large.

"I may late rege the deuce to seven if I bust here," he mentioned to this reporter earlier. For the time being, at least, he may not have to worry about that, as he may very well be our chip leader.

Brito Eventually Reveals His Hand

Nivel 6 : 150/300, 0 ante

Fernando Brito opened the betting with a raise to 750 from under the gun. Nobody wanted to take the Portuguese businessman/poker pro until the action passed to the United Kingdom's Carlo Citrone on the button. Citrone called and the dealer got to work spreading the {A-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop.

Brito tapped the table and checked. Citrone checked behind.

The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and Brito instantly reached for chips, grabbed 1,200 worth and bet with them. Citrone asked for a look at how many chips Brito had behind (approximately 5,300) before taking a few moments to make his decision.

"Will you show me an ace?" said Citrone as he folded.

Brito mucked.

"Ah, no ace!" said Citrone.

"I've not got an ace," replied Brito.

"Queen, then?"

"Better."

"Better than a queen?"

"I had a set," said Brito and with that the dealer started passing new cards to the players.
