Chris Dotson
Chris Dotson

Chris Dotson is a resident of Jersey City, New Jersey who frequents Atlantic City's thriving tournament circuit, but he has journeyed westward to compete in the World Series of Poker.

Dotson has already made a few deep runs in the popular Daily Deepstack events held here at the Rio, but today the man known as "superluckybox" on Twitter is hoping to make a name for himself in a bracelet event.

We caught Dotson contesting an early pot by three-betting to 625 from late position, putting a bit of pressure on an opener who made it 250 to go from early position. That player flatted to see the {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop fall, and he quickly tapped the table.

Dotson's c-bet did the trick and forced a fast fold, sending a smallish pot his way.

Baumann Doubles Off an Early Cooler

Nivel 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Gaelle Baumann
Gaelle Baumann

Gaulle Baumann is off to a great start. She and an opponent were heads-up on the turn with a board reading {q-Spades}{6-Spades}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades} at which point Baumann was all in while having her opponent covered.

Baumann: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The dealer dropped the {6-Clubs} on the river and Baumann scored the double, being the beneficiary of one of poker's sickest coolers.

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #29: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em

Defending champion Nikolaus Teichert
Defending champion Nikolaus Teichert

The first day of Event #29: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em gets underway in the Brasilia and Pavilion rooms at at 12 p.m. Vegas time. In 2013, Nikolaus Teichert defeated a 1,736-entry strong field and captured his first golden bracelet. The German is expected to try and defend his title after already cashing in the Seniors Championship (Event #17).

All players will begin with 7,500 in chips. They will be playing 11 levels of 60 minutes each; every two levels there will be a 20-minute break with a 90-minute dinner break following Level 6. Other players that we expect in today's field are EPT regular Kitty Kuo and pretty much all familiar faces from the circuit who are not returning for Day 2 of the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em Championship.

Follow the action on PokerNews shortly to see all good and bad beats, dramatic eliminations, and key hands on the way to the crowning of another champion this upcoming Sunday.
