Baker Triples, Palmer Not In Danger

Nivel 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

David "ODB" Baker was down to his last few chips and got them all in with {10-}{10-} against Scott Palmer and another short stack that Palmer had covered. Palmer held {J-}{J-}, and the other short stack held {A-Clubs}{Q-}. The board would run out {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Baker would triple up to 17,000 and Palmer would win the small side pot moving his stack up to a very healthy 265,000.

Chuck Clark opened to1,700 from under-the-gun and called when Minnesota's Jared Koppel three-bet to 5,000 from the small blind. Koppel then checked the {4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop, Clark bet 4,000 and Koppel called to see the {Q-Spades} turn. Koppel checked for a second time and then moved all in for roughly 70,000 after Clark bet 10,100. Clark called and the cards were turned up.

Clark: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}
Koppel: {a-}{q-}

Koppel had turned two pair, but it was no good as Clark had made a flush. Koppel needed either an ace or queen on the river to keep his Main Event hopes alive, but it was not meant to be as the {10-Clubs} blanked. Koppel made a beeline for the exit while Clark chipped up to 165,000.

Sub Fifty Big Blinds

Nivel 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

James Dempsey three-bet a 1,700 opener to 4,400. The player in the small blind popped it up to 9,800 and took it down preflop.

Dempsey is currently just below a 50 big blind stack. Here’s a look at a few other stacks around Brasilia who fit that description:

Hoivold Flats River "Misclick"

Nivel 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Andreas Hoivold called barrels of 5,000 on the flop and 10,000 on the turn on a board of {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}. After the river card, the player who was firing announced "twenty-five" before dropping in 25,000. The floor was called, and the ruling was that the bet had to be smallest 25 - 2,500.

"It would be pretty funny to raise to 25,000 now," Hoivold said as he considered his options.

He tossed in a call, and his opponent showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a boat.

Bjerno Takes a Hit

Nivel 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Nathan Bjerno opened his button to 2,000 only to have the player in the small blind make it 4,400 to go. The big blind got out of the way and Bjerno called to see a flop.

The dealer fanned {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} on the felt and Bjerno's opponent continued out for 4,500. Bjerno stuck around and the {5-Clubs} struck the felt on fourth street. Action slowed with a check to Bjerno who checked it back. The {A-Hearts} completed the board, Bjerno's opponent bet 5,000, and the two-time WSOP Circuit ring let his hand go. With this hit, Bjerno is now down to about 65,000.

Margolin Moves to 200K

Nivel 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Timur Margolin was faced with a bet of 4,500 on a flop of {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, and put in a raise to 12,600. His opponent shoved for what looked like 60,000 or so, and Margolin made a quick call.

Margolin: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {a-}{6-Diamonds}

Margolin's hand held up as the turn and river bricked {10-Diamonds}, {3-Clubs} respectively, and he recorded the knockout. The Israeli now has 202,000 chips.
