Ferreira Wins a Race to Double Up

Nivel 1 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

After a couple of preflop raises, Uemerson Ferreira found himself all-in and at risk from the big blind for his stack of 53,600 chips. He was instantly called by the player on his left while the small blind took some time before eventually laying his hand down.

The flop of Q42 put Ferreira way out front with a set of queens. The 9 on the turn locked it up and the 7 on the river sent the double-up to Ferreira in the opening level.

Cardosa Steals On the Turn

Nivel 1 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

There was a raise to 1,500 from under the gun and Matheus Cardosa was next to act. Cardosa bumped it up to 5,000 and the action folded back to the original raiser who stuck in a four-bet to 15,000. Cardosa just called and the flop of A76 hit the felt.

Cardosa was faced with a bet of 6,500 and he peeled one off to see the 5 on the turn. This time, the action checked to Cardosa who flicked in a bet of 15,000 which was good enough to earn him the pot.

Mantovani Loses a Small One Early

Nivel 1 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Three players headed to a flop in a single-raised pot where the dealer fanned 1055 across the felt. The action checked to Alexandre Mantovani on the button who tossed in a beet of 1,500.

The big blind check-raised to 4,500 which got both the under-the-gun player and Mantovani to dispatch their cards into the muck.

Day 1a of this event is the first of three starting flights that will take place over the coming days. The tournament will eventually crown a champion on November 25, and the final table will be live-streamed. Each flight will begin at 2:00 p.m. local time and consist of ten 60-minute levels and a 15-minute break after every two levels. Each player will be given a starting stack of 100,000 chips with the blinds kicking off at 300/600 and a 600 big blind ante. Registration will remain open until the start of level nine, approximately midnight, and each player will be allowed one re-entry per flight. A couple of interesting things to note, the first 15 players seated to begin the day will be given a restaurant voucher or a bottle of champagne, so be sure to be in your seats early. Also, each player will be given one "rabbit hunting" card and its use will make the dealer open board cards of a finished hand.

The players are ready to jump in the action and the PokerNews team is excited to bring you all of the live updates throughout the event so stay tuned for all of the action from the tournament floor.
