Rodrigo Seiji Bags the Chip Lead as 65 Advance on Day 1c of the BSOP Millions

Rodrigo Seiji is in the hunt for a second major title after bagging up the chip lead following Day 1c of the BSOP Millions Championship.

Seiji, with nearly $2.5 million in live earnings including a win in the Super High Roller at EPT Prague in 2022, ended the day with 873,000 and atop the remaining 65 players who will return tomorrow for Day 2. Eike Onodera (764,000), Breno Drumond (646,000), Ilia Streltsov (594,000), and Guilherme Schreiber (582,000) round out the top five.

Some of the biggest stars on the Brazilian poker scene came to the WTC Sheraton today to take their shot at the title, and among those who survived include Bruno Desimoni (563,000), Brunno Botteon (409,000), Carlos Henrique Da Silva (329,000), Rafael Reis (233,000), and Felipe Boianovsky (185,000). Online crusher Kelvin Kerber defeated Allan De Mello to win the Super High Roller yesterday and both jumped in the field today, De Mello finishing with 218,000 and Kerber nursing a short-stack of 60,000.

Among those who failed to survive the day included Ramon Kropmanns, Neel Murthy, Gabriel Moura, Team PokerStars Pros Elias Gutierrez, Rafael Moraes, and Laurie Tournier, as well as Yunkyu Song and 2023 EPT Barcelona runner-up Joao Sydenstricker.

Day 1c attracted 192 entries, bringing the field up to 503 after three starting flights. A total of 174 players return tomorrow for Day 2 at 2 p.m. local time to chase a portion of the R$11,081,150 prize pool. The action picks up on Level 11 with blinds of 3,000-6,000 and a 6,000 big blind ante and levels from this point on will increase to 90 minutes. The official list of payouts will be announced shortly after the start of play tomorrow.

Torres hit top pair on the Q83 flop to take a bigger lead in the hand, while the rest of the 210 board sealed Tulin's elimination.

The next hand at this table, Laurie Tournier shoved for 52,000 on the button and Carlos Serrano called in the big blind.

Tournier had picked up kings and was a favorite to double up as the flop came 283 to give Serrano a straight draw. Serrano spiked top pair on the A turn to take the lead, while the river was the 3 and Tournier was sent to the rail.

At the same table, Rodrigo Seiji has climbed up past 800,000 and contending for the end-of-day chip lead.

Cunha Survives a Three-Way All In

A player in early position moved all in for around 50,000 and Eike Onodera called in the small blind. Eduardo Cunha then reshoved for 130,000 in the big blind and Onodera called, having both opponents covered.

Cunha was ahead with his kings and was poised to scoop the entire pot as the flop came Q78. Onodera made a pair to pick up some additional outs but he improved no further on the 7 turn or 2 river as Cunha doubled up while sending the early-position player to the rail.

Drumond Tangles With Botteon to Climb the Counts

Breno Drumond bet 7,500 from the button on a flop of 27Q and Brunno Botteon raised to 25,000 in the big blind. Drumond called and the 10 fell on the turn.

Botteon slowed down and checked, and Drumond put out 25,000. Botteon quickly folded and Drumond took the pot.

At another table, Bruno Desimoni is currently sitting on 740,000 and contending for the chip lead in the closing moments of the day. Hassan Nashar, who built up his own stack of around 700,000 earlier in the day, is no longer in his seat and has been eliminated. Team PokerStars Pros Elias Gutierrez and Rafael Moraes were also among the late-night casualties.

Junior Shoves Out Lopes

Jaime Junior four-bet to 75,000 in the hijack and Marcelo Lopes called on the button.

The flop came 10Q6 and Junior continued for 55,000. Lopes called to see the K turn, where Junior moved all in for 130,000.

Lopes asked for a count and burned through several time banks until giving up the pot. He used his rabbit hunt card and the dealer revealed the 3 river before pushing the pot over to Junior.

Gutierrez Sends Song Packing

Yunkyu Song was up out of his seat with his coat on as he was all in for his last 65,000 and up against Fernando Gutierrez in a blind versus blind battle.

Gutierrez took the lead on the 8J6 flop with a pair of eights, while the 9 turn gave Song some outs with a straight draw. The 3 river was no help to Song and he was sent to the rail.
