Día 1 completado
When the dust had settled here at Casino Barcelona after a day full of four-card action, only 15 players remained from the 106 entrants for Day 1 of Event#40 €10,200 Pot-Limit Omaha at PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona.
Those figures generated a €1,028,200 prize pool, with all 15 players being in the money and having secured a minimum cash of €17,400. A spot at the final table is worth €30,050, while the winner will take home €268,600.
After 12 hours of play, rising British young gun Patrick Kennedy is best placed to do just that, having stormed to the top of the standings after bagging up 850,000, good for 70 big blinds. Kennedy's current biggest live score is the $86,000 he earnt for coming fifth in the Heads-Up Championship at this year's World Series.
PLO World Series bracelet winner Ka Kwan Lau (716,000) leads the chasing pack, while Canadian poker legend and two-time EPT winner Mike Watson (538,000) completes the podium places.
Plenty of notable names fired a bullet or two but did not make the Day 2 cut, including the top two finishers from last year, Tom-Aksel Bedell and Roberto Sagra, along with Sean Winter, Niklas Astedt and mixed-game specialist Benny Glaser.
Players such as Finnish legend Juha Helppi, Nacho Barbero and Matthew Wantman made it past late registration, but also did not find a bag for Day 2. Helppi in particular was unlucky to exit, the poker gods contriving to send the pot to Watson despite Helppi flopping top set and the nut flush draw.
Meanwhile, Jim Collopy was the unlucky player to bubble when he was left drawing dead on the turn by Watson, bursting the bubble in one hand.

After nearly 19 levels of play Day 1 of the €10,200 Pot-Limit Omaha event has concluded, with all 15 players remaining guaranteed a €17,400 payday.
Stay tuned for a full recap of the night's action that will be up shortly.
Mike Watson opened to 35,000 in early position, and action folded to James Collopy on the button, who three-bet to 123,000, leaving himself around 46,00 behind.
Action folded back to Watson, who thought it through, before just calling.
On the A♣10♥6♣ flop, Watson check-called the jam from Collopy, to put Collopy at risk on the bubble.
James Collopy: A♦K♠K♣8♦
Mike Watson: Q♣7♣6♠5♠
Collopy was in front with a pair of aces, but Watson had a flush draw to go with his third pair sixes.
The 8♣ turn drilled the flush for Watson, leaving Collopy drawing dead, and the 6♦ river completed the board to burst the bubble and end play for the day.

With five players seeing a board of 10♠7♠6♣ and around 150,000 in the middle, Samuel Albeck checked from the small blind, Gergo Nagy checked from early position, Alexander Petersen checked from middle position and Ka Kwan Lau bet 55,000 from the hijack. Mark Buckley folded from the cutoff, Albeck called, Nagy folded and Petersen folded leaving Lau and Albeck heads up going to the turn.
On the 9♦ turn Albeck checked and Lau bet 140,000. Albeck, with a pained expression on his face, opted to fold and Lau took the pot without showdown.
Meanwhile at another table, Andriy Lyubovetskiy was eliminated leaving the remaining 16 players on the stone bubble.

Jens Kyllonen min-raised under the gun, and Christopher Philippou potted it in the next seat to 42,000. Action folded back to Kyllonen, who moved the rest of his 95,000 stack into the middle. Philippou made the quick call.
Jens Kyllonen: A♦10♠7♦7♠
Christopher Philippou: A♥A♠J♣5♦
Kyllonen's pocket sevens were behind Philippou's pocket aces, and the 9♠3♣6♥4♠A♣ runout confirmed his exit, Kyllonen missing his turned flush draw and flopped straight draw, Philippou taking the pot with a set of aces.
