Conor Bergin open-raised to 2,200 from the cutoff, Steve O'Dwyer three-bet to 7,200 from the small blind, then Bergin moved all in for 26,700. O'Dwyer quickly made the call with the covering stack and players flipped their cards.
Conor Bergin: A♣K♠
Steve O'Dwyer: 9♣9♠
It was a fair fight. The board ran out Q♠Q♣K♣J♣10♠ to give Bergin a pair of kings on the flop and straight on the river. He doubled up his stack, while O'Dwyer was left with less than 30,000.
Parker Talbot raised from under the gun to 2,200. David Boyaciyan from middle position asked, "How much you have behind?" then three-bet to 5,500. Talbot called.
The flop came 2♥Q♥7♦, Boyaciyan bet 11,000 and Talbot announced all in for 23,600. Boyaciyan snap-called.
Parker Talbot: 7♠7♣
David Boyaciyan: A♠Q♣
No help for Boyaciyan as the board ran out 9♦6♣ and Talbot doubled up.
Leo Worthington-Leese in the cutoff opened to 2,000. He was called by Luka Bojovic on the button and by Chung Cheung who defended from the big blind.
Both Cheung and Worthington-Leese checked the A♦7♣A♠ flop, then called after Bojovic bet 1,600. Bojovic bet 7,200 on the 3♥ turn, but Worthington-Leese was the only one to check-call.
The 10♦ completed the board and both players checked. Worthington-Leese flipped over A♥4♣ for trips and scooped the pot.
In the 869th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, sponsored by the free-to-play WSOP App, Chad Holloway hosts from down in The Bahamas at the 2024 World Series of Poker Paradise, while Kyna England is back at Level 9 Studio in Las Vegas. Mike Holtz is out with a broken ankle, so Nikki Limo was kind enough to once again fill in as a special co-host.
Together, they discuss happening at the WSOP Paradise, the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas, and the European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague. That includes Phil Hellmuth making an appearance, the new stage at WSOP, and the Triton Million, which was won by Argentinean rapper Alejandro Lococo for $12 million.
Chad also had the honor of bringing the Women in Poker Hall of Fame trophy down with him to present to Kristen Foxen. In this episode, you can check out her acceptance speech, which PokerNews helped film. Speaking of the WiPHoF, Jeanne David was another inductee and she had a spot of luck drawing a Golden Passport into the ClubWPT Gold $5,000,000 Freeroll, which kicks off today!
At the EPT Prague, Thomas Santerne has already won two side event titles, while the 2022 WSOP Main Event champ, Espen Jorstad, took down the €25K Super High Roller Warm-Up for his first EPT title.
Oh, and we'll also let you know what Phil Ivey is up to as he's been seen double dipping at both the WSOP Paradise and WPT World Championship, including a planned holiday meet-up game (MUG) at the latter.
Michel Karim open-raised from middle position and Niklas Astedt called in the next seat. Maksim Vaskresenski three-bet to 9,200 from the button and Karim called. Astedt then back-raised all in for 83,000, leaving the table perplexed.
Vaskresenski was first to fold, saying it was "too much" as he mucked his hand. Karim went into the tank and then decided it was best to fold his hand.
"That's why he's the best," said a neutral player as Astedt scooped the pot uncontested.
Ilya Nikiforov open-raised to 2,400 from early position, Nikola Minkov called on the button and the big blind came along.
The flop came 10♥4♠4♥ and the big blind checked. Nikiforov bet 3,200 and only Minkov called. On the 3♥ turn, Nikiforov bet 10,000, leaving himself just 15,700 behind. Minkov used a time bank card before making the call.
The river was the 6♠ and Nikiforov pushed all in for the rest of his stack. Minkov didn't hesitate before making the call with the bigger stack. Nikiforov showed J♦J♠ for two pair, jacks with the fours on board. Minkov, however, had 7♥6♥ for a flush. He won the pot and Nikiforov was sent to the rail.
Robert Heidorn raised in middle position, Marton Czuczor three-bet to 7,500 from the cutoff and Simas Karaliunas four-bet shoved for 17,200. Heidorn folded then Czuczor called.
Simas Karaliunas: A♠J♥
Marton Czuczor: K♣J♠
The board ran out safe for Karaliunas as it came 2♠6♥3♦6♦4♣ and he doubled his stack.
