Kings are Good

We found our way to Table 278 as a large pot of chips was brewing. Brain Tate from the under the gun position fired out 2,000 into his opponent with a board reading {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Tate's opponent quickly made the call and both players saw a {5-Hearts} peel off the deck for the river.

Tate again bet out 2,000 and his opponent called. Tate showed {K-}{K-} and his opponent threw his cards in the muck, and was quite unhappy with the hand's result as he put his hands on his head in disbelief.

Martin Moving On Up

After a series of bets Jesse Martin had his opponent all-in on a flop of {J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Martin was behind as his {Q-}{9-} was just a pair of nines compared to his opponent's {J-}{10-} for a pair of tens.

There were still two more cards to go, the first one was great for Martin's opponent as it came off a {7-Clubs} giving him a straight, and taking away some of Mueller's outs. The river however was devastating as a {10-Diamonds} hit giving Martin a higher straight.

Alaei Out

Nivel 11 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

When we reached Table 282, the board read {3-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and Daniel Alaei was heads up with an opponent. The two got three bets in, and the turn brought the {10-Spades}. Alaei checked to his opponent who bet, and Alaei folded, dropping his stack to just 4,800 chips.

Alaei couldn't bring his stack back up, busting a few hands later.

Mueller Headed in the Wrong Direction

In a blind-versus-blind confrontation, Greg Mueller raised from the small and received a call from the player in the big. Both players checked the {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, inspiring Mueller to bet out when the dealer burned and turned the {J-Hearts}. The big blind called the bet, as he did on the {8-Diamonds} turn.

Mueller showed {J-Spades}{9-Hearts} for jacks and eights, but it was no good against the {K-Spades}{2-Clubs} of his opponent.

Three Players and a lot of Betting

We just happened to be walking past Table 290 when we noticed that the betting had been maxed preflop between Shannon Shorr in the cut-off, the Button, and Isaac Haxton in the small blind.

{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} all made for a scary flop, but none of the players seemed to be afraid. After Haxton checked, Shorr bet, the Button raised, and then Haxton re-raised, Shorr flat called, the Button then raised again maxing out the betting. Shorr and Haxton both made the call to see a turn.

The {3-Hearts} didn't slow anyone down as Haxton bet, Shorr made the call, the Button raised, and Haxton flatted. When the action got back to Shorr, he raised and both other players called.

A river {5-Spades} came with a bet from Shorr, a fold from Haxton, and a call from the Button. Shorr flipped over {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the nut flush and the winning hand.

Glantz's Tournament Life at Stake

Jennifer Harman raised from the cutoff only to have Matt Glantz three-bet all in from the button for his last 1,800. The big blind call, as did Harman, and the flop came down {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Both active players checked, as they did on the {10-Hearts} turn and {7-Clubs} river.

Harman showed {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, the big blind flipped {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, and Glantz revealed his {A-Spades}{9-Spades}. It was a three-way chop, but it did bumped Glantz up a little to 2,000.

Mueller Lays It Down on the River

Action folded to Greg Mueller on the button and he put in raise, which was soon three-bet by James Carroll in the small blind. Mueller made the call and then called bets on both the {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop and {A-Clubs} turn. However, when the {4-Clubs} was put out on the river and Carroll bet, Mueller simply conceded the hand by folding his hand.
