The Final Table is Set, Lykov Leads the Way

Nivel 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Maxim Lykov - Will Start the Final Table as Chipleader
Maxim Lykov - Will Start the Final Table as Chipleader

It was an action packed Day 3 here in the Amazon Room. 44 players took to the felt today but only nine remain in the hunt for the 54th gold bracelet of this year's WSOP. Play halted right at the end of Level 26 when Mario Doria was eliminated in 10th place.

Our chipleader is none other than Maxim Lykov who had a rollercoaster of a day with his stack dipping to as low as 250,000 at one point. He will start the final table tomorrow having a huge chip advantage with 3,875,000 in chips. Second in chips is Dror Michaelo who finished the day with 1,980,000, nearly 2 million less than Lykov.

Our short stacks will be Ren Ho Zhang with 785,000 and Stanislav Alekhin with 820,000.

The official final table will begin play tomorrow at 2:30pm PST and make sure to stick with PokerNews for all your WSOP updates!

Mario Doria Eliminated in 10th Place ($41,389)

Mario Doria
Mario Doria

Mario Doria moved all in from the small blind and got snap-called by Dror Michaelo in the big blind as the entire rail watched on with baited breath.

Doria: {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Dror Michaelo: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The flop came {4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Doria was still in search of the king to save him, but the {9-Diamonds} had some of the table and many on the rail cheering in excitement as the short stack was now drawing dead. The {Q-Spades} river changed absolutely nothing and now tomorrow's final table is set!

Lykov Wins Without Showdown

Nivel 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Max Lykov raised to 100,000 from early position and was only called by Ren Ho Zhang in the big blind. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and Zhang checked it over to Lykov who bet 100,000. Zhang called and they saw the {k-Hearts} come on the river. Zhange checked again and Lykov fired out a bet of 200,000. Zhang deliberated for a bit before deciding to fold his hand and Lykov took the pot.

No Hands

Nivel 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

So far we've seen little action, the most notable piece being when Max Lykov opened to 100,000 from middle position only to fold when fellow Russian Stanislav Alekhin three-bet to 245,000 from the cutoff. We might be a little while yet...

Gard du Nought; Matthew LaGarde Eliminated in 11th Place ($41,389)

Matthew LaGarde
Matthew LaGarde

Straight back from break and Matthew LaGarde raised to 100,000 before Max Lykov reraised with a stack of green chips committing him. LaGarde was all in and instantly both flipped their cards.

LaGarde: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Max Lykov: {K-}{Q-}

The board came {9-}{4-}{Q-}{9-}{2-} and the Russian made two pair to LaGarde's one and we now have our unofficial final table.
