Ylon Schwartz
Ylon Schwartz

Players are busting quickly and the big stacks have been difficult to gather, but here are a couple. Robert Kuhn appears to be the chip leader and former November Niner Ylon Schwartz has quietly built an impressive stack as well.

Kerstetter Picks Off Chewy

Nivel 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

We walked up to a board of {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and a lot of chips in the middle. Jamie Kerstetter was facing a bet of 48,000 from Andrew "luckychewy" Lichtenberger.

Kerstetter thought for a moment before finally making the call and tabling {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Lichtenberger mucked and Kerstetter is now one of the big stacks in the room.

Maurice Hawkins opened to 7,000 from the hijack and Jamie Kerstetter pushed all in right behind him for 81,000. Hawkins thought for a moment before making the call with {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Kertstetter needed some help with {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} and got it on the flop of {q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, leaving Hawkins with just one out.

The board ran out {2-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Kerstetter's ladies gave the lady a welcomed double up and left Hawkins short.

We didn't see the action, but Hawkins yelled "seat open" after the next hand and he headed to the payout desk.

Bruning Can’t Find a Heart

Nivel 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Three players had put in 6,000, the small blind Louis Bruning then called and Lauri Pesonen in the big blind declared that he was looking for a “nitty” hand to fold. It looked like he couldn’t find it as he put in the extra 3,000 to call and they went five way to the flop of {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}.

Bruning immediately moved all in from the small blind and Pesonen made the call. Seat one asked for a count but folded.

Bruning showed {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. “Oh you’re got a big draw again.” Pesonen said turning over the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

The turn {5-Clubs} and river {9-Diamonds} saw Bruning eliminated and Pesonen gather some much needed chips.

Melius Stays Put

Nivel 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Facing an early position raise David “Barth” Melius moved all in from the cut-off. The blinds foded and the original raiser called and showed {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Melius stood up as he turned over {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. His big ace looked like it was going to come up short and he was resigned to going home.

The cards fell {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. The river gave Melius a jack high straight and he was forced to sit down again and stack his chips.

A Preflop Four-bet From Lichtenberger

Nivel 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

A player in the cutoff raised to 6,000 and Russell Thomas reraised to 15,000 from the button. Andrew Lichtenberger squeezed to 28,500 from the big blind and the original raiser and Thomas both folded.

Bauer Busts a Player

Nivel 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

A player from early position moved all in for 22,000 and received two callers from middle position, including Brian Bauer. It was three players to the flop with one all in. The flop came down {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Bauer's opponent checked and Bauer fired 13,500. The opponent folded and Bauer was heads up against the at risk player.

Bauer turned over {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for middle set and his opponent needed two runners to improve on his {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. The board ran out {7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} though and Bauer eliminated a player and raked in a nice pot.
