Kyoung Joins The Club

Nivel 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Oh You Kyoung has joined the very exclusive 300,000-plus club in Pavilion.

Her latest victory came after she rode pocket threes to a rivered boat and her tablemates claim it's been that kind of day for Kyoung.

Gates Gone

Garry Gates
Garry Gates

As we strolled through the tournament area, we noticed Garry Gates' seat empty.

Speaking to tablemate Matt Vengrin, he informed us that Gates three-bet shoved his last 17,000 into the middle and was called by two players; one of which was the original raiser.

The flop fell {8-}{4-}{2-} with two clubs and the flat caller bet out 40,000 to force the original raiser out.

Gates: {7-}{7-}
Opponent: {9-}{9-}

The turn and river blanked out and Gates headed to the rail.

Nguyen Steamrolling

Nivel 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Former November Niner Soi Nguyen keeps on stacking up chips.

When Simon Trumper made it 6,100 from the cutoff, Nguyen jumped all over the raise from the button. He made it 16,300 and after everyone else got out of the way, Trumper did the same.

Just for good measure, Nguyen showed {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

Pavilion Counts

State of Play in the Brasilia Room

Nivel 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Although the amount of tables in the Brasilia room has fluctuated throughout the day as tables broke from the poker room and Buzios, it seems clear the direction that the Brasilia room is heading in.

Currently we are down to 18 tables in the Red section while the remaining tables from Gold have either broken into Red or moved in it's entirety into Pavilion.

There are just four tables remaining in Gold, and once they've broken into Red, we expect tables from there to slowly start joining where the majority of the players are; Amazon Purple and the Pavilion room.

Staszko Revived

Nivel 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Martin Staszko at times seems impossible to eliminate in poker tournaments, consistently making deep runs. He already seemed to have accumulated more chips when we witnessed this hands moments ago.

Staszko opened for 4,100 from first position and the player to his left moved all in for 15,000. A French player a few seats down made the call and when the blinds folded Stasko moved all in for close to 100,000.

His opponent sighed deeply and looked at the ceiling shaking his head. He seemed to look around the table for some clue as to what to do. After a couple of minutes he declared pass but was reluctant to release his cards. When he did he folded {a-}{k-} for the table to see.

The all in player had {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and Staszko {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

The flop was {5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and the player who folded threw up his arms in exasperation. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river delivered the {j-Diamonds}.

The Frenchman was all smiles again as Stasko dragged the pot and eliminated a player.

That’s a Wrap For Lacy

Ludovic Lacay
Ludovic Lacay

Ludovic Lacay from France had a camera crew following his progress in the tournament today, but it’s time to call cut without a happy ending. When we returned to his table to check on his progress there was another gentleman in his seat who was rather less telegenic and didn’t seem to be attracting as much interest, but did at least have chips.
