Frederik Thiemer with around 40,000, Denis Grimm with around 60,000, and Vitalii Shcherba with a covering stack all got their chips into the middle preflop.
Frederik Thiemer: Q♠Q♥
Denis Grimm: A♠K♠
Vitalii Shcherba: A♥A♣
Shcherba was in an excellent spot to send his stack soaring towards the summit and Grimm was already standing up in preparation for departure. However, the 7♠4♠10♠ flop made Grimm quickly sit back down as he flopped the nut flush to all but lock up the pot. A 4♦ on the turn did give both Thiemer and Shcherba some outs, but the 7♦ river was a brick, which meant Thiemer busted, and Grimm almost tripled up.
Nikolaos Mourourtis raised from under the gun to 5,000 and Manuel Braunhofer from middle postion three-bet to 16,500, Mourourtis called.
With roughly 40,000 chips in the pot and a flop of 4♠5♦A♦, Braunhofer continued with a bet of 6,500 that was quickly called by Mourourtis. Action went check-check when the 3♦ hit the turn and Braunhofer bet a whopping 47,500 on a 4♣ river.
Mourourtis seemed like he was going to call but elected to fold. Braunhofer proudly tabled 10♥8♥ while he scooped the pot.
Richard Dalberg opened to 6,000 and called a three-bet to 14,000 from Marle Spragg.
The flop came 5♦4♣2♥ and Dalberg checked. Spragg continued for 15,000 and Dalberg check-raised all in for 43,500. Spragg quickly called.
Richard Dalberg: 9♠9♣
Marle Spragg: K♦K♣
Both players held overpairs, but Spragg's was best. The turn Q♣ and river 3♥ bricked and she sent Dalberg to the rail, moving above 200,000 chips in the process.
Rami Exman moved all in from the hijack for 17,500. Daniel Koloszar called in the small blind before Alexandre Fournier raised to 42,000. Koloszar then moved all in for 113,500. Fournier called and had both players covered.
Rami Exman: A♥9♣
Daniel Koloszar: A♠A♦
Alexandre Fournier: K♣K♦
Koloszar's aces held up across the Q♥3♥J♦10♣J♠ to secure a big pot and sent Exman to the rail in the process. Before leaving, Exman gave Koloszar a bag of chocolate buttons as a celebratory gift for eliminating him.
Michel Molenaar was already all in preflop and at risk for 71,000 from the cutoff against Harald Sammer, who had Molenaar covered from middle position.
Michel Molenaar: A♦J♥
Harald Sammer: A♠3♠
Molenaar was in good shape with his dominating ace, and the 10♣5♣K♥9♠2♣ runout kept him best with his jack-kicker to score the double up.
Ilari Sahamies opened to 5,000 from middle position and Dan Wagner called in the cutoff before Masahiro Yamada three-bet from the button to 20,000. Sahamies did what he does best and four-bet to 45,000, which got Wagner out of the way. Yamada responded with a five-bet shove of 110,000, and Sahamies released his hand.
Sahamies has spent considerable time playing poker in Tallinn in recent years. His last cash in an EPT event dates back to 2019, right here in Prague, where he made a final table appearance in a PLO event. For those unfamiliar with the Finnish poker legend, his online moniker, "Ziigmund," struck fear into the hearts of many players during the golden era of online poker. Known for his fearless and aggressive style, Sahamies was a regular fixture at the highest-stakes cash games on the virtual felt.
Vanessa Kade opened to 5,000. Filip Dolezal was all in for 4,500 but Alessandro Orsi Smittarello three-bet all in for around 40,000. Kade called putting two players at risk.
Filip Dolezal: 7♥6♣
Alessandro Orsi Smittarello: K♣10♣
Vanessa Kade: A♣Q♦
There was a six in the window, but an ace followed as the full board of A♦J♠6♦J♣5♣ saw Kade eliminate both opponents and move above average.
